TRAVEL DAY

We were traveling from all parts of the US to Maui.  Jessica left the earliest from Roanoke, VA, but ended up sitting on her plane for 2 hours before it took off for Maui.  Dave, Ben and I had a 6 am flight (but Ben and I were up since 3 am) to Dallas and then we flew Dallas to Maui.  Joe and McKenzie had the easiest flight - direct Denver to Maui.  Only their intended plane needed engine repair.  They spent all day at the Denver airport and got on a plane 7 hours later.  United brought a plane in from San Francisco.  William and Crystal made it from Charleston to SLC, but then were delayed in SLC.  The trick is to stay calm - which we all did - we're on vacation!  Presently Midnight mountain time but 8:00 p.m. Hawaii time, we are all here except Joe and McKenzie.

Now, I recently returned from Jessica's defense of her dissertation!  Go Jess!  What I didn't write about nor do I wish to dwell on, is I had some old health ailments resurface when I was at her celebration.  It was at that point that I decided to dig into my savings and upgrade Dave and my seats to 1st class for the 8 hour flight to Maui.  It was necessary in my opinion so that I can feel great this entire week.

However, I have never flown in "Those type" of 1st class seats before.  Holy moly.  They were the seats that recline. You have noise cancelling headphones given to you so you can watch the tv screen in front of you. I mean "WOW!"  I was very overwhelmed.  And Dave was not sitting by me.  Thankfully the very nice flight attendant showed me how to operate everything and I was able to catch up on a little sleep during that flight.

Veggie Lasagna (they were out of the stir fry by the time they got to me.)

Dessert could be an ice cream sundae or fruit/cheese

Appetizer salad and chicken w/hummus

We immediately began to sweat when we got off the plane.  It's beautiful weather here. We landed at almost the exact same time as Jessica.  We got our luggage and then waited a good hour for our rental car.

Thank you to everyone who suggested books.  That was very helpful.  I finished the one I was reading and unfortunately, I did not download one when I had wifi.  So I'll need to download them before the flight home.  Tomorrow Dave and I have Hunter Douglas meetings in the morning.  Hopefully the beach in the afternoon and a Hunter Douglas supper that evening.

Laura (those seats were the ones we dreamed of sitting in when we went to Italy.)

I'm usually way more witty, but I am tired.  Maybe tomorrow.  (Smile)
